ROCKY MOUNTAIN RHYME

Like giant castles soaring high

searching for freedom in the sky

born in earth's womb millenniums ago

from molten rock and lava flow

volcanic eruptions and blackened rain

all added to their growing pain

rocks and boulders thrown up high

fell then built up to the sky

millions of years of winds and snow

shaped the crags and glacier flow

snow capped peaks now all around

sing with the wind in joyful sound

temperatures drop the earth now cool

now mother nature starts renewal

plants and trees sprout from the earth

ending the grey and barren dearth

green lakes and forest now appear

roamed by grisly bear and deer

eagles soar high in the air

searching the crags to build a lair

every colour and different hue

from emerald green to deepest blue

like a painting set before your eye

so this is rocky mountain high

gazing upon this wondrous glory

each mountain tells it's ancient story

of stars and moon the rain and sun

the tale of how our earth begun
