Indian Summer
A chill peaceful calm fills the Autumn air
Grey wispy mist dulls the morning glare
Sun in the ascent, it's path now quite low
Clearing the fog from the earth down below
A time to relax after long summer's toil
Cutting the grass and turning the soil
Borders now edged, the plants have been fed
Now time to enjoy, the bright coloured beds
Flower heads raised, to soak the sun's rays
As they cling to life for a few precious days
Birds in the trees sing out their last song
Migration draws near, the urge ever strong.
Leaves changing colour to rich russet brown
Awaiting a breeze for their dance to the ground
Growth has now ended, the grass not so green
But serenity reigns on this tranquil scene
A warm gentle zephyr, now rustles the leaves
Breaking a few as it blows through the trees
Now free they can dance in the air all around
Performing a ballet, then swoop to the ground
White clouds billow up in the sky overhead
Like pillows all puffed on a soft downie bed
These glorious days of warm Autumn fall
Defying the howl of the long winters call
A chill fills the air, skies no longer blue
Sun now takes on a yellow brass hue
Stiff breeze now blowing, trees start to bend
Our Indian Summer has comes to an end
