For Those Who Never Returned
They left these shores and crossed the bar
Their hopes and dreams held high
Never thinking as they sailed from sight
This would be their last goodbye
Mothers, wives and children left on shore
Praying for the return of their men
Dreading each winters gales and storms
Would they ever see them again?
Some never made it back to land
Leaving sad broken hearts behind
Now all that is left are the memories
Of brave men who were one of a kind
Today we are gathered together
To remember these men with great love
May their spirits join closer in Heaven
And sail on God’s oceans of above.
